2026 Barossa Bushgardens SALA Festival Exhibiton

RULES OF ENTRY 2026
 

South Australian Artists are invited to register for this years SALA Exhibition at the Barossa Bushgardens.

Outdoor sculptures are eligible for entry.  The exhibition can accommodate both large and small sculptures; however, when artists are submitting entries, they are required to consider safety, ease of installation, de-installation and the public environment.
 

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ALL ENTRANTS TO READ ALL INFORMATION AND ACCEPT ALL CONDITIONS OF ENTRY BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THEIR ENTRIES
 

EXHIBITION DATES

Saturday 1 August to Monday 31 August 2026 

 

EXHIBITION LOCATIONS
Outdoor locations:

Barossa Bushgardens, 653 Research Road, Nuriootpa 5355 SA

PLEASE NOTE:
Outdoor sculptures must be suitable for outdoor public display and be able to withstand the environment e.g. sun, wind, rain, inquisitive children and people.


 Please indicate on the entry form if you will take commissions for subsequent sculptures ordered.
 

CLOSE OF ENTRIES
Entries close at midnight on Tuesday, 5 May 2026
The entry form and images must be received by midnight on the closing date.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

  • The online entry form must be completed in full, and free from errors, as details will be used on the display signage provided by the venue. 
  • Any entry form that is incomplete may be rejected or reviewed for clarification
  • All artworks for the 2026 exhibition will be photographed and may be used in future marketing or promotional material by the Barossa Bushgardens and The Barossa Council
  • Late entries are accepted but will not be mentioned individually in any SALA Festival promotional material. 

All entries must include the following:

  • Artist Statement 
  • Description of the artwork and method of construction
  • Please note: It is the artist's responsibility to ensure that the above written statements are accurate and free from errors, as they will accompany the work on display
  • Attaching an image is encouraged. Up to three good quality, clear images of each entry.  
  • Ensure that the correct sale price for your artwork is included, as this cannot be changed once submitted.
  • Multiple pieces for individual sale must be individually and clearly numbered/labelled for display and sale purposes.


 WORK HEALTH AND SAFETY (WHS) – OUTDOOR SCULPTURES

  • Artists are required to consider any risk to public safety and the environment that could be caused by the installation of their sculpture and removal of it; the ability of their work to withstand the elements; and any impact on inquisitive children, and the general public;
  • Artists having their own liability insurance are required to attach a copy of the current policy with the registration
  • Artists not having their own liability insurance will be contacted by the coordinator for details.
  • All outdoor sculptures must be anchored and secured safely and will be required to comply with the Barossa Bushgardens Work Health and Safety guidelines that have been developed in conjunction with The Barossa Council i.e. there must be no movement at the base when sculptures are manipulated.
  • A safety inspection of each sculpture will be undertaken following installation. Artists may be required to make some immediate changes to comply with safety requirements.  All changes and modifications must be addressed by the artist prior to the opening of the exhibition.
  • On installation and de-installation of outdoor sculptures, all artists are required to wear appropriate clothing and footwear as it is a shared environment (e.g. snakes). 


DELIVERY AND INSTALLATION

  • Placement of sculptures will be allocated by discussion between the artist and      coordinator of BBG. 
  • Wherever possible, artists’ requests for a specific site will be considered, however particular sites cannot be guaranteed
  • If artists wish to change the sculpture after they have submitted the registration form, please contact the coordinator as soon as possible for adjustment to the registration. 

The coordinator has the authority to move sculptures if they consider there is any risk to public safety, or risk of damage.

OUTDOOR SCULPTURES
All outdoor sculptures must be delivered and installed between the 28 and 31 July 2026. Artists of outdoor sculptures should report to the coordinator. 

  • Artists must return to the desk once they have completed their installation.  A staff member will then undertake a safety check and sign off inspection of the sculpture
  • Any work that has not met the safety check will need to be fixed prior to sign off and is the responsibility of the artist
  • Sculptures that cannot be installed safely may be refused
  • Installation of sculptures must not affect the environment or the path e.g. rocks, trees, bark and the indigenous plants
  • The artist is responsible for installation and de-installation.  Please come prepared with any tools required and additional support if needed
  • Please state on the entry form if assistance is required and discuss beforehand with the coordinators. 
  • Powered or motorized generators are not to be used on site for installation and/or display


COLLECTION AND SALES
All sculptures (unless sold) must be collected between Tuesday, 1 September and Friday, 4 September in coordination with the coordinators. 

· Removal and delivery of sold sculptures is to be negotiated between the artist and the purchaser

  • Artists sell directly to the buyer.
